Emma Taylor's vintage book sculptures breathe new life into old books. 

With a degree in Art History from UCL, her interests in academia fed into her creative practice, forging the two into her very own style of sculpting: Emma rescues vintage novels and creates trees, flowers, insects, birds and other flora and fauna out of their pages. For Emma, the narratives of the books she finds informs her subject matter. 

Old books become beautiful miniature worlds made, it seems, of words. Each sculpture chimes with imagination, bewildering in their level of detail and intricacy. In this solo show, expect to see oak trees, weeping willows and tree rings veined with 24ct gold leaf, as well as a family of mice emerging from an old book's spine in Taylor's 'Mice Tales', or a glorious barn owl perched atop a stack of books with wings outstretched in the impressive 'Through the Night'. Always conveying a deeper understanding of paper beyond its use as a carrier of stories, Emma Taylor's latest solo show abounds with an effortless enchantment you might have only ever read, not seen.

Emma Taylor's work has been exhibited in fairs and exhibitions across the U.K. and overseas (Cambridge, London, Hong Kong). Two of her sculptures were selected for the ING Discerning Eye 2024, and she recently completed a commission for Manchester's Aviva Studios in 2023.
