SUSILA BAILEY-BOND

(born 1972. Leeds, UK)

Susila Bailey-Bond's work is regularly exhibited at major art fairs across the USA, London, Europe and Aisa. Susila has had a number of solo shows at Woolff Gallery, plus a solo show at one of London's premier buildings The Gherkin, and also at the Private Members club: Home House. Susila Bailey-Bond has exhibited in numerous European group exhibitions, and countless global art fairs, as a result her work appears in private and corporate collections worldwide.

Clients include Tiffany and Co, Davidoff, Mattel, ECI, and The Great Elephant Parade (her elephant 'Uma' was on parade at Amsterdam's Schipol airport in 2018), her work was included in the book 'Papercraft II', published by Gestalten, and has appeared in periodicals such as Living Etc, Bliss, Vogue, Arts Vice, B magazine, Elle, and Homes and Gardens as well as numerous online publications. Susila currently lives and works in London.

Paper Cut Series

In Susila Bailey-Bond’s delicate papercut works we are presented with a celebration of colour and pattern as decorative repeated forms of flowers, butterflies, dragonflies or other cons swarm across the board. Susila arranges these soft elements lightly throughout these artworks, often each flower or creature sits on its own separate silver wire standing proud of the canvas, which means shadows are created as light moves around the room and across the artworks. Sometiames adorned with silver leaf or shimmering crystals to add a further delicacy to the work.

Bailey-Bond's papercut artworks are usually presented inside a perspex / plexiglass case, however alternative framing can be arranged.

Aluminium Series

The bright artworks in Susila Bailey-Bond's aluminium series are constructed from individually spray painted elements which are securely attached to solid metal pins, or entomology pins, and carefully arranged in a perspex / plexiglass case. Sometimes found objects are incorporated into the composition.

These works can be placed in constant direct sunlight thanks to the robust nature of the spray paint, and they can be made in any colour palette. They can also be mounted directly onto the wall as an installation. Bailey-Bond has completed numerous bespoke commissioned works in this style, please contact us if this is of interest.
